Subsidies for rainwater tanks: what has ended and what is still running

Most websites in the sector still promise Dešťovka subsidies. The last deadline for applications was 11 October 2021. This page is current as of August 2026, including links to official sources so you can verify it yourself.

The Dešťovka II programme was generous for its time: depending on the variant, it offered between 55,000 and 105,000 Kč, calculated as a fixed amount plus 3,500 Kč per cubic metre of tank capacity. However, funds from the 440 million Kč allocation ran out and applications closed in October 2021. If anyone offers it to you today, they either don't know this or are counting on you not checking.

This does not mean that nothing can be obtained for the tank. It means that the procedure differs depending on where you live, and in Prague it is significantly more attractive than elsewhere.

When does a subsidy for air conditioning apply and when does it not?

There is no subsidy for air conditioning designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating.

Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. – otherwise the subsidy will not be granted, even if all other conditions are met.

Praha versus zbytek republiky

In Prague, the Clean Energy programme covers half the cost of an accumulator tank for a detached house, up to a maximum of 150 000 Kč. For apartment buildings, the cap is 250 000 Kč and the application must be submitted by the building's owners' association or a housing cooperative. With typical implementation costs ranging from 90 000 to 160 000 Kč, this means the city pays half the price.

Outside Prague, the interest-free loan from Nová zelená úsporám remains available, where the State Environmental Fund covers interest and fees while you repay only the principal. Systems for rainwater and wastewater management are among the supported measures; however, for a standalone tank without further renovation, we recommend verifying conditions directly with the fund, as rules have changed for 2026.

Regional and municipal programmes are constantly being established and discontinued. If we know of something that concerns you, we will mention it during the survey, but we will not promise you money in advance.

What we provide with the application

  • certificate of authorisation for handling regulated substances (F-gases)
  • technical parameters of the installed unit including the heating factor
  • documents confirming installation and commissioning

The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its receipt; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.

Frequently asked questions about subsidies

Can I still apply for the Dešťovka grant?

No. The Dešťovka II call for applications accepted submissions from 7 September 2017 to 11 October 2021 and has been closed since then. No new nationwide call under this name has been announced.

How much of the implementation cost will the subsidy cover?

In Prague, half of the documented costs, up to a maximum of 150 000 Kč for a detached house. Since a complete turnkey system typically costs between 90 000 and 160 000 Kč, this amounts to roughly half the price for most orders. However, the subsidy is paid only after completion and upon presentation of supporting documents.

What do you need from us for your application?

A certificate of completion with tank and system parameters, the invoice, and photographic documentation of the work process. We prepare these automatically for every job, even if you ultimately decide not to apply.

Will I receive a subsidy for an air conditioner that only cools?

No. There is no subsidy for an air conditioner intended solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating. If you are purchasing the unit purely for summer cooling, it does not qualify for subsidy programmes.

Must installation be carried out by a company with F-gas certification?

Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. – otherwise the subsidy will not be granted, even if all other conditions are met.

Do you guarantee that I will receive the subsidy?

The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its receipt; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.

The information on this page was last verified on 6 August 2026 with official sources (Clean Energy Prague, NZÚ loan). Grant conditions change throughout the year, if you spot any discrepancies, let us know and we will correct them.
